Can you believe it! The Sound of Panther Pride collected another haul of awards
at the Missouri Days Marching Festival in Trenton, MO on October 18. As a mild
day turned to a crisp autumn evening, the band rushed the field in celebration when
they were announced as the sweepstakes winner for most combined points of all bands
in all classes for parade and field performances.
The band competed in class 4A in all events. The Marching Band was awarded first
in parade and second in overall field show. The Colorguard took second in
indoor auxiliary. The Drumline took second in indoor percussion. The band
also received specialty caption trophies in the field show for best marching/maneuvering,
best drum major, best auxiliary, and best general effect.
Congratulations Panthers, especially the seniors. What a way to end your marching
careers at OGHS!

Though Saturday was a cold day, members of the Sound of Panther Pride heated up UTT Music Building
in Warrensburg! Having prepared for hours, 28 students traveled to UCM to audition for the
West Central All-District Band.
The following students made a band .....
Honorable Mention Band ¯ Flute Sami Jo
¯ Clarinet Hannah
¯ Alto Sax Jeremey
¯ Bass Clarinet Ashlee
¯ Trombone AJ
¯ French Horn Lauren
The district bands will rehearse January 9th and 10th. The honor band will be directed by
Al Sergel, retired band director from Northwest Missouri State University. The honorable
mention band will be directed by Tim Allshouse from Blue Springs High School. After having
dinner at Heroes (love the onion rings!), rehearsing, having a pizza party and spending the night
in Warrensburg, the concert will be 7:00 PM January 10th at Hendrick's Hall on the UCM campus.
Another great thing about these amazing students' accomplishment is that they have now lettered
in band! Congratulations guys! Job well done! And if you see any of the honor
band kids, wish them luck on their state auditions in Columbia on December 6th. (Good luck
with those minor scales!)
Way to go band... Sweepstakes Winner at Trenton!
